#WeAllCount Point-In-Time Count 2024

A quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. typed in white text, on a darkened background featuring a collage of black and white photos of individuals and couples. Text reads, "We are tied together in life and in the world."

The #WeAllCount Point-in-Time Count (PITC) census of people experiencing homelessness is coordinated annually in San Diego by The Regional Task Force on Homelessness (RTFH).

This year’s #WeAllCount takes place on Thursday, January 25. Townspeople is proud to once-again participate in this annual census, serving as a deployment center to count people experiencing homelessness in Hillcrest from 4:00–8:00 a.m.

Register Today to Volunteer as a Counter

As many as 1700 volunteers are needed across the other 42 deployment centers throughout San Diego County for this year’s effort. Volunteer shifts are typically 4 hours in duration and start at 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25. As of this posting, plenty of volunteer counters are still needed to cover Central San Diego, East County, and North Inland.

Volunteer registrations will be accepted until all spots are filled or until Monday, January 22, 2024 (whichever comes first.) Please sign up early!

Donate to Support #WeAllCount Operations

In-kind donations. Townspeople is hosting a volunteer team of 50 people! Help us support their early morning commitment by donating in-kind food and refreshments such as hot coffee and tea, fresh pastries, and nonperishable snacks.

We also welcome in-kind donations of nonperishable food items like noodle soup cups, oatmeal cups or packs, and breakfast/granola/energy bars that our volunteers can easily distribute to the people they’re surveying.

To make arrangements for these in-kind donations, please reach out to admin@townspeople.org today for more information.

Monetary donations. While federally mandated to take place, the PITC is not federally funded and requires a significant amount of resources to complete. If you’re able to donate in addition to or instead of volunteering, please contribute in support of this important regional effort.

Raise Awareness of #WeAllCount on Social Media

The more people who know about the effort, the closer RTFH will get towards recruiting 1700 volunteers for the 2024 census! Please reshare Townspeople’s #WeAllCount posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and/or Twitter/X. Please also follow RTFH San Diego on Facebook and Twitter/X and reshare their #WeAllCount appeals.

What is the #WeAllCount Point-In-Time Count?

The Point-in-Time Count is a federally mandated requirement designated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Historically, San Diego conducts the count on an annual basis with the mission to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. San Diego’s annual census provides critical data on the needs of people experiencing homelessness in our community, increases awareness of homelessness in our region, and helps bring federal funding to San Diego to help end homelessness.
