In Their Own WordsÂ
When the current administration first introduced funding cuts to housing in 2025, Townspeople reached out to the people we serve and support, and invited them to share their housing story and why our federally-elected officials should know Housing Matters.
So began “From San Diego to the Hill,” a collection of stories from individuals and families with lived experience of housing insecurity and/or homelessness. Each participant who elects to share their story does so on their own postcard, which Townspeople collects and sends to federal representatives in Washington. To date, 18 stories have been collected and sent.
“Housing is important to me because living on the streets is not a humane way to live,” wrote one participant. “When you have housing, it gives stability to make good decisions to move forward and improve your life.”
We whole-heartedly agree!
